Newquay Harbour + Boat Trips
Newquay harbour is just down the hill from Newquay town centre and is a lovely place to visit and take a boat trip from. The working harbour supplies many of the lcoal restarants and hotels with delicious fresh fish and sea food and can see the boats leaving and returning to the harbour on the high tide.
There are a variety of different boat trips on offer from the harbour from full day fishing trips to shorter trips along the coast with mackerel line to catch something to pop onto your beach BBQ. On your way back, you may well spot some of the resident seals, who will follow the boat and stare at you with puppy dog eyes, begging you to share some of your catch with them. Who could resist!
If you would like to book a boat trip, it is probably best to pop down to the harbour to check what is on offer as there are lots of different options and timings will depend on the tides.
At low tide, there is a small harbour beach where you can sit and watch the world go by and the swimmers and paddle boarders. Beware though, this is a working harbour, if you decide to swim, keep well away from the harbour entrance and boats.
From the vantage point on the harbour wall you can see right across Newquay Bay which is often filled with surfers and kayakers.
The Boathouse Restaurant has recently changed to offer street food on the beach to make the most of covid restrictions. Food and drink from a well stocked bar and a variety of food vans including tacos, paella, curry and waffles plus fresh fish and seafood cooked in their own kitchen can be purhcased to eat on tables on the beach or the restaurants balcony looking over the harbour.
